Clay Nesler is the vice president for Global Energy and Sustainability for the Building Efficiency business of Johnson Controls Inc.

Clay Nesler is the vice president for Global Energy and Sustainability for the Building Efficiency business of Johnson Controls Inc.

In this role, Clay is responsible for energy and sustainability strategy, policy, innovation and NGO relationships as well as the Johnson Controls Institute for Building Efficiency. He also serves on the company's global environmental sustainability council.

Since joining Johnson Controls in 1983, Clay has held a variety of senior leadership positions in research, product development, marketing, consulting and strategy in the United States and Europe.

A frequent international speaker and panelist, Clay has participated in the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting, the US-India Energy Partnership Summit, the World Climate Summit in Cancun, the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, the World Green Building Council meeting in Singapore, the UN Climate Change Conferences in Copenhagen and Cancun as well as briefings at the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Clay serves on the board of the World Environment Center, the advisory board of the NRDC Center for Market Innovation, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of International Studies and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering.  He received BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a co-inventor on 10 U.S. patents.
