David Levine is co-founder and executive director of the American Sustainable Business Council, a coalition of business networks committed to public policies that support a vibrant, just and sustainable economy. The organizations that have joined in this partnership represent over 50,000 businesses and social enterprises and more than 150,000 entrepreneurs, owners, executives, investors and business professionals and other individuals.
David Levine is also a founding partner in Green Harvest Technologies, developing, producing, and marketing new applications of biobased materials in consumer products. His work focuses on strategic partnerships to enable a shift away from a petrochemical economy towards a sustainable economy. Levine has over 25 years of experience as a social entrepreneur and non-profit executive.
Prior to joining Green Harvest Technologies, he was founder and director of the City University of New York Graduate Center’s Continuing Education & Public Programs and before that, founder and executive director of the Learning Alliance: Options for Education & Action. His work has encompassed business start-ups, community and organizational development, adult education and workforce development, facilitation, and the catalyzing and building of strategic partnerships across issue areas with a strong focus on sustainability. He sits on the steering committee of the Business NGO Working Group on Safer Chemicals and Sustainable Materials; the Sustainable Biomaterials Collaborative; the Maine Bioplastics Initiative and the NYC Apollo Alliance.
