Robert Collier
Born and raised in Baltimore, Md., Robert W. Collier is a rising second-year MBA student at the Johnson School at Cornell University.
Upon graduating from Middlebury College with a BA in History, Robert spent time in Washington, D.C. as a paralegal with Venable LLP’s intellectual property litigation practice. While working with clients in the entertainment, arts, and software industries, he helped the firm transition to electronic document discovery.
An interest in environmental stewardship led Robert to volunteer for AmeriCorps with a grassroots non-profit organization in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. in 2009. For full a year, he traveled to rural towns in the Sierra Nevada mountains leading public presentations about the environmental, social, and economic impacts climate change.
Most recently, Robert was a Research Analyst for Environmental Defense Fund in Boulder, Colo. At EDF he worked extensively on national air quality policy and further developed his knowledge of the electric power sector. He became interested in the intersection of policy and business as a means of encouraging utility scale renewable energy development.
While at the Johnson School, Robert has focused on rounding out his Sustainable Global Enterprise Immersion experience with a strong understanding of finance as an Environmental Finance and Impact Investing Fellow. As a testament to his interest in renewable energy, Robert was invited to join the first cohort of a scholars program sponsored by OneEnergy Renewables. At school, Robert has enjoyed leadership positions in both the Sustainable Global Enterprise Club and the Energy Club.
