Sumir Karayi is the founder and CEO of 1E. He leads IT efficiency pioneer 1E's strategic direction and has grown the privately owned company into a global organization with offices worldwide. Karayi is an expert on energy efficiency's unique role in the IT industry, and the forward motion of investments and innovation in this space.

Sumir Karayi is the founder and CEO of 1E. He leads IT efficiency pioneer 1E's strategic direction and has grown the privately owned company into a global organization with offices worldwide. Karayi is an expert on energy efficiency's unique role in the IT industry, and the forward motion of investments and innovation in this space.

He founded 1E in 1997 after leaving a technical consulting position at Microsoft to develop a leading-edge systems management consultancy for large organizations. Prior to founding 1E and his position at Microsoft, Sumir managed PC-based networks for the BBC, Reuters and Lombard (RBS Group). Sumir first realized the significance of automation in cost reduction at Lombard, where he developed various networking and system tools to automate system administration processes.

Karayi is a regular speaker at a host of global sustainability conferences and Green IT events, and earned BEng and MSc degrees from Warwick University, specializing in Electronic Engineering and IT for Manufacturing.
