Tessa J. Schwartz and Sarah Tierney Niyogi
Tessa J. Schwartz (left) is a partner in the technology transactions group for Morrison & Foerster LLP and Sarah Tierney Niyogi, also a member of the group, is an associate with the firm.
Tessa currently serves as a co-chair of the cleantech group for the firm worldwide. Her practice centers on counseling companies regarding intellectual property and information technology issues as well as negotiating intellectual property and commercial agreements.
She represents a wide array of public and private companies, from large established institutional clients to start-ups. Her clients have included telecommunications, wireless, software, hardware, consumer electronics, semiconductor equipment, consumer product, food and beverage, medical and scientific research product, hospitality and entertainment, medical diagnostic and device, health care, biotechnology, internet, logistics, and financial services companies. She also has a particular focus on the cleantech sector and on sustainability issues.
Sarah received her bachelor of art’s degree in Plan II and bachelor of science in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She earned her M.Phil. in development studies in 2005 from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Gates Scholar. Sarah received her juris doctorate from Stanford Law School in 2008, where she was a Student Fellow at the Center for Internet and Society and a Submissions Editor of the Stanford Journal of International Law.
