Truman Semans is a principal and Rebecca Lutzy is an associate at
GreenOrder, an LRN company. The strategy and management consulting firm has helped leading companies turn sustainability into business value since 2000.
Truman has worked for 16 years advancing sustainability through business strategies, government policies and programs, and technology investments.
Until recently, he served on the Executive Committee of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a CEO-led coalition of corporations and NGOs working with Congress to pass federal climate policies. At the Pew Center on Global Climate Change from 2005 to 2008, Truman directed the Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC), growing it to 45 member companies with $2.8 trillion in market capitalization, the largest U.S. business association dedicated to climate solutions. Prior to that, Truman worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, served as the U.S. Treasury's International Economist on energy and environment, and worked in private equity and senior management with companies in information technology, energy and cleantech.
Truman has a Masters with Distinction from Johns Hopkins's School of Advanced International Studies, and an MBA and BA from Duke University, where he was student body president. He sits on several boards including of the National Climate Trust, Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Advisory Council.
Rebecca brings a deep background in environmental science and policy as well as experience in business consulting to the firm.
In the summer of 2007, Rebecca worked at the Climate Center of Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, D.C., on federal climate and energy policy. Previously, she worked as a consultant at Katzenbach Partners LLC, where she advised a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical client on strategic planning and led the redevelopment of an online team assessment tool. She also has experience working as an environmental educator and an AmeriCorps volunteer, and has done several stints as a field ecologist in Costa Rica, Panama, Northern California and Antarctica.
Rebecca holds an MPA from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School, where she focused on climate and energy policy, and a second master's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Rebecca was a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow. She received a BA with honors in biology from Brown University, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
