Learning Globally, Acting Locally

I'm looking for a graduate program that focuses on new innovations in environmental policy and their possible linkages with local communities in developing countries. Any suggestions?

Gil:
It's a healthy sign of the times that schools -- as well as companies and governments -- are jockeying for being the most environmentally responsible and innovative. (See our recent posting about "green MBA" programs.) One of the newest entrants: the Blekinge Institute of Technology has launched a one-year "international masters program," based on The Natural Step management framework, titled "Strategic Leadership Toward Sustainability."

Schools aren't the only place to learn innovation, of course. Some other great resources for your question:
  • EPA's International Best Practices and Innovations Web site is a gateway to information and resources on innovative environmental projects and programs from around the world.

  • NextBillion.net focuses on the "base of the pyramid" -- sustainable business models that address the needs of the world's poorest citizens.

  • WorldChanging is a leading blog/online magazine/compendium with the tag line "a better world is here," chronicling innovation in many sectors and many scales. (Disclosure: I contribute a "Sustainability Sundays" column to WorldChanging a couple of times a month.)
