ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- Coca Cola signed a 10-year contract with UTC Power that will bring two fuel cells to a southern New York bottling plant, where they will produce enough heat and energy to satisfy nearly a third of the facility's needs. The state of New York also provided $2 million for the project.

It seems like you can't make a move without bumping into a news story about the electric transportation company "Better Place".
The innovative organization, which recently brought electric car charging stations to San Francisco, is placing charging stations across the entire state of Hawaii.
Hawaii's first charging station will open in 2011, with 50,000-100,000 charging locations ready to go by 2012.
Better Place chose the state for its first statewide rollout due to its contained environment and limited car imports and exports. The company plans on recharging its batteries at night using Hawaii's plentiful wind farms. And since the state imports oil for 90% of its energy, alternatives are desperately needed.
If all goes well with the Hawaii test, you might just find a Better Place charging station on your block in the not-too-distant future.
