In the area of electronics recycling, the committee will look at ways to help manufacturers make their products easier to recycle, without subjecting recycling workers to health hazards.The newspaper quotes Rep. Bart Gordon, (D-Tenn.), the committee chairman, as warning, "Our landfills are filling up with electronics."
It appears that the committee is going to focus on research and development, rather than penalties, as a way to solve the problem. According to the committee's official agenda, the committee will:
