As if visitors to London didn't already have enough to see, the London Transportation Department has just unveiled a sleek zero-emissions double decker bus design.
London's redesign of its historic red bus will join Burbank's zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell bus in making city-wide public transportation more sustainable.
The bus, which will be turned into a prototype by 2011, was created by architecture firm Foster + Partners as part of a contest to redesign the city's double decker buses.
The firm's winning entry comes complete with leather upholstery, wooden floors, panoramic views, and a glazed roof featuring energy-generating solar cells.
If London's double decker inspires just one other major metropolis to take on the sustainable redesign of iconic structures, I think it will have done its job.

Congratulations to London.
Congratulations to London. It’s great to see cities taking these positive steps toward emissions reduction. Where they lead, hopefully others will follow. A great resource for information on establishing your organization’s baseline carbon footprint is www.csa.ca/carbonperformance.
