I've always thought that someone would come up with a good alternative to trees for paper-making, but I never though that it would be elephant dung.
A Boston-based printer called Pixxlz has decided to purchase Mr. Ellie Pooh paper, which is made from 100% recycled materials and is manufactured using renewable energy.
Mr. Ellie Pooh, or "Poohper", prints well on Pixxlz digital and soy ink presses and is available in a multitude of colors.
The Sri-Lankan paper is toxin-free and uses only basic bonding agents along with water soluble salt dyes for coloring purposes. It also offers the ideal pH for photography preservation.
In addition to offering Mr. Ellie Pooh, Pixxlz also features Mohawks 30-100% Post Consumer Waste paper. As one of the only printing product companies offering 100% PCW products, Pixxlz is poised to lead the industry away from wasteful practices.

Mr. Ellie Pooh paper
This is just great. We designers can't wait to see the swatch book for this one.
Branding note: Who decided "pooh" has an H on the end?
Was poo just too risky?

Pooh Communities Playing Important Role
These are the kind of stories that offer inspirations for communities in the developing world, as in India, Africa, etc. and how they could play a significant role in creating a better, sustainable world.
Of course the contribution of local community where the elephant dung is 'mined' cannot be wished away and must be stressed.
Plus, this elephant pooh arrangement has in more ways than one eliminated the human-wildlife conflict scenario that would otherwise have seen the jumbos killed (at least in Africa) for intruding on agricultural land on which the poor villagers depend for subsistence farming.
