Out of a total of over 22 inaugural balls, two will be officially "green". In fact, both green balls have been named the Green Inaugural Ball.

One of the balls will feature PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), which plans to give away fur coats to the homeless and offer hot soy-milk cocoa. The other green ball is advertising an appearance by Al Gore.

Though only two balls will have a specifically green focus, many of the parties are making an effort to be environmentally friendly. Attendees are being encouraged to carpool, take public transit, or drive hybrids. Many balls also plan on using energy-efficient lighting. 

According to Black Voices, other planned balls include the Africa Aspire Inauguration Night, the Historic Inaugural Ball, the Indiana Society Inaugural Gala, and the Audacity of Hope Ball.
