Consumers wary of acquiring the numerous cardboard boxes necessary for moving are increasingly turning to green moving companies like Rentagreenbox.com.
Rentagreenbox.com takes trucks full of rentable recycled plastic bins to customers' homes. Customers are responsible for packing up their things, and a moving company transports the items. One week later, Rentagreenbox.com comes back to retrieve the plastic bins.
According to the company, 7,500 bins are used yearly, up from 3,500 in 2006.
Rentagreenbox.com isn't alone in its green ambitions— moving companies across the United States are embracing biodiesel trucks, biodegradable bubble wrap and foam, and cardboard-box exchanges.
Other green moving companies include Brooklyn's Movers Not Shakers and Santa Barbara's Movegreen.
