Home Depot may be laying off workers, but Green Depot is adding new employees to its roster.

The green building supply store, which already has 15 location, is setting up shop next month in New York City. The 222 Bowery site will feature green do-it-yourself items as well as lifestyle and design products.

Green Depot will also contain New York City's only zero-VOC paint bar, a resource and design center, and a section for new parents.

Additionally, the new Green Depot will have a 3,000 square foot showroom. Architecture firm Mapos LLC designed the space and anticipates LEED-platinum or gold certification.

Green Depot's hip new location was previously home to the studios of artists Mark Rothko, Fernand Leger, and author William Burroughs.
