Good news for recycling-savvy consumers: Preserve has teamed up with Whole Foods Market, Stonyfield Farms, and Organic Valley to create the Preserve Gimme 5 Program.

The new program allows consumers to drop off #5 polypropylene plastics at Select Whole Foods markets.

Few communities offer recycling for #5 products, which include yogurt cups, hummus containers, and medicine bottles. Whole Foods' program will create a new life for these lightweight, easy-to-recycle plastics that are often sent to Asia to be burned for energy.

Preserve's program launches today in Whole Foods Markets across the Midwest, Northeast, and Northern California. Florida stores will join the program in February.
