Energy Opportunities: Ford's Vision for Smart Mobility

As economies in developing and emerging regions of the world catch up with the West, people and products are travelling further and more often. Intelligent planning and transport organisation will play a massive role in making mobility smarter.

Bill Ford, Chairman of the Ford Motor Company, believes cars will always be a major provider of mobility, but thinks they need to work in harmony with other forms of transport. He warns that the worldwide fleet of cars and trucks could grow to between two billion and four billion vehicles by the middle of this century from 800 million vehicles today and challenges us to put forward ideas to help avoid a potential global gridlock.
