David West

David West is one of the early pioneers of extended range vehicle technology founding the Plug-in Hybrid Development Consortium, with Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and other leading utilities. In cooperation with the consortium, West helped lead a joint development program with General Motors building the first extended range electric SUV and light duty truck. In addition, he led a national “Green Fleet” program securing thousands of soft orders for PHEV trucks and SUVs with government, utility and municipal fleets. David was instrumental in introducing the electrified work trucks into the nation’s leading fleets beginning with Pacific Gas & Electric. West was called to testify before a Senate sub-committee providing evidence on electrification of transportation through early adopting fleets. He has met with the President’s Chief of Staff in the White House to discuss electrification of America’s working fleets, where he also met with the U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Carol Browner former head of the EPA and the President’s advisor on Climate Change.
