One of three invited speakers for the Nissan Leaf worldwide launch press conference, Rafael Reyes leads the Bay Area Climate Collaborative, a public-private partnership initiative focused on market acceleration of clean energy solutions. The BACC’s work includes the $5 million Electric Vehicle Fleet National Demonstration Project to deploy EVs into Bay Area municipal fleets; development of Ready Set Charge California! A Guide to EV-Ready Communities an authoritative guide for local governments developed with EV experts state-wide; SunShares, the residential solar group-buy model which resulted in 40% below market cost in its initial pilot; and the Bay Area Next Generation Streetlight initiative aimed at catalyzing the upgrade over 200,000 streetlights to deliver $10 million in annual savings.
Reyes is co-facilitator of the Bay Area EV Strategic Council and a former member of the Sierra Club’s national Board of Directors where he served for 6 years. Previously he was program manager at ecoAmerica where he led large scale partnership projects to engage mainstream Americans on the benefits of environmental progress. This work included leading the development of the SEED Center with the American Association of Community Colleges to educate the 21st century green economy workforce.
