UL Environment (ULE)
UL Environment (ULE) launched in early 2009 to provide environmental assessment, validation and certification services to companies and product manufacturers who need independent third-party validation of green claims and alignment with sustainability standards. ULE is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Underwriters Laboratories, the global leader in product safety. ULE brings UL's 115-year tenure as a leader in standards, testing and certification services to the environmental sustainability marketplace. ULE is initially offering two services to product manufacturers. The first service is called the Environmental Claims ValidationTM (ECV) program. The ECV program will assist manufacturers and consumers alike in sorting through green claims commonly found on today's products which will help to end confusion in the marketplace and reassure consumers that their purchases will help to protect the environment.
