Ascent Healthcare Solutions Earns 2006 Champions for Change Award

The company has received the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment Champions for Change Award for its leadership in improving the environmental performance of the healthcare sector.

Ascent Healthcare Solutions, Inc., an independent third-party reprocessor of single-use medical devices (SUDs), has received the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) Champions for Change Award for its leadership in improving the environmental performance of the healthcare sector.

The Champions for Change Award recognizes Ascent's contribution to helping the healthcare industry address environmental issues through the reduction of medical waste. Ascent expects to eliminate over 7,000 tons from U.S. landfills annually.

"Ascent Healthcare Solutions is honored to be recognized by H2E for the positive impact third-party reprocessing of single-use medical devices continues to have on the environment," said Scott Delaune, program manager for environmental initiatives, Ascent Healthcare Solutions. "We are committed to doing what is right for the environment and to actively promoting the environmental contributions of our partners. We remain dedicated to providing our customers with a growing number of reprocessing options that further support the protection of valuable resources."

Regulated by the FDA, reprocessing allows SUDs to be cleaned, checked for functional integrity, and sterilized according to all of the requirements currently applicable to original equipment manufacturers. In the coming year, Ascent expects to help its customers save in excess of $92 million in supply expenses, which may be redirected to patient services.
