TOKYO, — Fujitsu Limited wants to help boost energy efficiency at IT facilities throughout the world with the launch of its Green Infrastructure Solution service.

The service is suited for the design, planning, deployment and operation of IT facilities of varying types, such as buildings and machine rooms. The goal is reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 50 percent.

Fujitsu has a sales goal of 40 companies adopting the service within three years, which would generate orders worth about 5 billion yen, or nearly $45 million.

The solution has three main features. The first involves taking advantage of its architects and engineers to select which cooling, electric power and machine room equipment will optimize the customer's assets and policies.

The second feature rests upon the company's accumulated knowledge from having operated 50 data centers throughout Japan. For instance, the company’s Tokyo Secondary System Center yielded advanced technologies expertise, such as layout design using heat flow simulation, that can be used to help potential clients.

Fujitsu also is banking on its experience as an IT vendor being a key feature of its Green Infrastructure Solution. This role will allow the company to help clients by verifying equipment compatibility and leveraging technologies, such as cost analysis systems and energy monitoring systems.
