The largest mall in Mumbai, India, is one of the first locations to benefit from the Clinton Climate Initiative's (CCI) Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program.

The developer of the Inorbit Mall, K Raheja Corp., signed the CCI Retrofit Program's first Project Development Agreement.

Johnson Controls will perform retrofits designed to improve the energy infrastructure of the mall, reducing both greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs.

The CCI was launched in August 2006 by the William J. Clinton Foundation and is working to fight climate change through partnering cities, experts and business leaders together. Through its Retrofit Program, the CCI is working with energy service companies, banks and some of the world's largest cities to cut the energy used by buildings.

Late last year the CCI announced a partnership with the city of Chicago to provide green retrofits to the Sears Tower, Merchandise Mall and private housing.
