Samsung Launches New Printer Recycling Program
Published March 12, 2008
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Samsung Electronics America launched a recycling program Wednesday geared toward helping businesses dispose of their printers.
Samsung, which bills itself as the world's second largest laser printer manufacturer, is offering the PrintCycle program for buyers of seven professional laser printers. Samsung also offers a toner purchase and recycle program.
The new program offers a three-year product refresh, which means the company will replace the printer at the end of the three-year period with a new one at market price -- and Samsung will even retrieve the used product.
"It was designed to see the product through its lifecycle and provide customers an easy way to recycle as they go along," Samsung Spokeswoman Alice Collins told GreenBiz.
PrintCycle is part of the company's broader PrintCentives campaign.
"Samsung is continuously trying to find ways to be environment friendly," Jay Shears, Samsung's director of marketing and digital printing systems, said in a statement. "By offering easy ways to help the business professional support environmentally safe options, we are providing a service to our customers and a continuing commitment to the environment."
