RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK -- Lenovo's nine-product ThinkVision LCD monitor line is now completely EPEAT gold certified. The recent addition of two of the company's monitor's to EPEAT's listing brings all of its ThinkVision monitors in compliance with EPEAT's highest criteria.

The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool rates computers and monitors on a number of environmental criteria, including energy efficiency, materials used, product longevity, takeback programs and packaging.

Lenovo is currently the only company with gold certified monitors, though there are more then 280 other monitors that meet the lower silver and bronze certifications.

EPEAT's product assessment includes 23 required criteria and 28 optional ones. To be certified gold a product must meet all the required and 75 percent or more of the optional criteria.

The two recent additions, the L174 and L197 Wide, were analyzed by TUV Rheinland of Germany, a product testing and certification company, which said they use from 25-35 percent less power than previous ThinkVision monitors.
