OAKLAND, Calif. -- Ecolab will reportedly introduce a new environmental initiative to certify carwash operators and help them market their services to green-minded consumers.
Ecolab's vehicle care division is set to introduce the Blue Coral Beyond Green program to ensure that carwash products and services are sustianable, Modern Car Care reported.
"Our industry is trailing others on sustainability so we are drawing a line in the sand and defining what it means for a wash to be sustainable," said John Rolando, Ecolab's RD&E vice president of corporate technology, services and emerging businesses.
The campaign will bear the slogan that Blue Coral is hard on dirt but easy on the earth.
"We will be working with our customers to help educate carwash consumers as to the specifics of what sets a Blue Coral Beyond Green certified wash apart from the others," Lambiase told the publication. "By speaking directly to the environmental concerns that our carwash customers are expressing through their wallets every day, Blue Coral Beyond Green will resonate with consumers and cause a shift in the purchase decisions many of them make."
According to the publication, the certification means that the manufacture of carwash products is free of harmful chemicals, such as phosphates and meets requirements for volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Ecolab already has environmentally focused initiatives in place, such as developing products that use less energy and water. The company’s packaging includes recyclable materials and a drum recycling program to minimize waste.
