The Aperture VISTA Infrastructure Monitoring system is designed to help manage the equipment, space, power, cooling and capacity of data centers. Its real-time collection of data on power use, heat output, cooling and performance is meant to give data center managers an overall view of their data centers at all times, showing them where and when they can improve energy efficiency. Along with providing the data, Aperture VISTA can show the reasons behind the data and what can be done to improve performance.
Aperture estimates 8-10 percent of servers in many data centers don't serve any function, but are still using energy and causing the expenditure of resources. The Aperture VISTA system is also designed to help data center managers inventory and track all their assets to eliminate servers that aren't being utilized.
"Our customers increasingly need one overarching solution to help them to manage the data centre at lowest cost - while meeting existing business objectives - and to plan and budget accurately for future data centre expansion," Aperture CEO Bill Clifford said in a statement.
Aperture VISTA Infrastructure Monitoring was born out of Aperture's acquisition of The Advantage Group, a developer of vendor-neutral monitoring technology, in July 2007.
