AT&T to Introduce 105 Alternative Fuel Vehicles in its Fleet

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — AT&T will add a variety of alternative fuel vehicles to its company-wide fleet, dispersing cleaner cars, vans and trucks throughout the country.

The company plans to start rolling out the vehicles in June in more than 30 cities. The 105 alternative fuel vehicles include 25 compressed natural gas vans, 65 hybrid electric Ford Escapes and Toyota Priuses, and 15 hybrid electric conversion work trucks.

AT&T will track fuel efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, operating costs, performance and driver satisfaction of each vehicle. The company estimates that it will save more than 34,000 gallons of fuel a year and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 124 metric tons.

"Reducing our fleet's petroleum fuel consumption and operating costs is a top priority," said Jerome Webber, vice president of fleet operations. "Even the smallest improvement in fuel use, when applied across our corporate fleet, can make a significant impact for the environment and for our business."

The vehicles will be used in cities in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Texas.
