Continental Helps Shippers Offset Cargo Emissions

OAKLAND, Calif. —

Continental Airlines and Sustainable Travel International have created a Cargo Emissions Calculator to allow shippers to figure out and offset emissions related to their shipments.

Shippers enter the weight of their cargo, where it’s being shipped from and where it’s going. The calculator provides details on how long the trip is and how many tons of carbon dioxide emissions are related to the shipment.

A variety of offset projects are available for purchase through Sustainable Travel International, including reforestation, renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts.

The Cargo Emissions Calculator if an expansion of the partnership between Continental and Sustainable Travel International. The airline already provides a carbon calculator for passengers to find out the emissions related to their flights.
