TOKYO, Japan — The Green Grid has expanded its reach to Asia by setting up groups to work solely with Japanese companies on green IT issues.

The Japan Work Groups will create a set of best practices, metrics and technologies for Japan-based businesses and organizations.

The Green Grid, a global consortium of companies working to increase energy efficiency of data centers and computing, has created a Japan Data Collection and Analysis Work Group to gather and analyze data from Green Grid member companies in Japan.

The Japan Communications Work Group will promote the findings to IT professionals, and support local marketing efforts and energy efficiency events.

The Green Grid has also set up a Japanese-language website and established a formal partnership with The Green IT Promotion Council, a collaboration between the IT industry, government and universities in Japan.

The two groups will share information and work together on activities to reduce the energy consumption of IT.
