ROUND ROCK, Texas — Dell has developed and released a new energy efficient desktop PC for small businesses six months ahead of its typical product cycle.

The Vostro 410 desktop is part of the company's Energy Smart group of computers, which include high efficiency processors and pre-configured power settings.

With ideal power management, the desktop can save users up to 47 percent on annual energy costs. Dell said it created the desktop six months earlier than planned due to customer demand and feedback.

The company has also made its first EPEAT Gold-certified monitor, the E207 20 inch flat panel, available worldwide. More than 25 percent of the plastic in the monitor is from recycled materials. EPEAT is a rating system for desktop computers, laptops and monitors that meet a number of environmental criteria.
