In hopes of making solar energy more accessible, GE Energy and GAF Materials Corporation have teamed up to provide solar systems and roofing.

The two companies have allied to market and develop solar and roofing systems. The effort is aimed at new developments or renovations to allow builders to have one source for both solar and roofing materials.

"This strategic alliance with GE Energy will ultimately provide the entire industry with a powerful solution for designing and constructing properties for both new construction and property improvement projects that address today's fast-evolving, environmentally conscious consumer values, including energy efficiency," said Dave Harrison, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of GAF.

GE offers a number of solar products, and GAF's roofing options include recyclable roofs, Energy Star qualified reflective roofs, vegetative roofs and solar roofs.
