WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Since 2006 the EPA’s WaterSense program has brought together 1,000 partners that develop and support water-efficient products and projects. This month the EPA recognized its first WaterSense Partners of the Year: two businesses, an individual and a group that have taken strides in water-efficiency.

The Promotional Partner of the Year is The Saving Water Partnership, an eight-year-old affiliation of 18 water utilities in and around Seattle that have incorporated WaterSense labeled products in to its campaigns. Last year all WaterSense partners released more than 193,400 WaterSense labeled products like faucets, toilets, showerheads and urinals.

Kohler Co., a maker of bathroom and kitchen products, was named Manufacturer Partner of the Year. The company has earned the WaterSense label for numerous toilet models, has promoted WaterSense products and provided 20 WaterSense toilets for the public Charmin Holiday Restrooms in Times Square during the 2007 winter holiday season.

The Retailer and Distributor Partner of the Year is Ferguson, a wholesale distributor that has undertaken numerous efforts to integrate WaterSense products into its promotions and educate it 22,000-associate staff about waster-efficient items.

Timothy Malooly of Shorewood, Minn., was named Irrigation Partner of the Year for his 26 years of working in the irrigation industry. Malooly is president of Irrigation Consultants and Irrigation By Design, and through the firms he has installed efficient irrigation systems in projects throughout Minnesota.
