LONDON, UK -- By the end of this year, DHL expects to have its e-Billing system rolled out in the reminder of its major European territories, hoping by 2010 to cut the amount of paper invoices it send by one-third.

DHL currently issues more than 18 million paper invoices yearly in Europe. Its e-Billing system lets customer view and approve invoices online, an download them in different formats for electronic record-keeping.

The company started its e-Billing push in Europe with a pilot program in Belgium last year. DHL's e-Billing was eventually introduced in other countries, including the United Kingdom and Switzerland, starting in late 2007.

"We are currently experiencing a 30 percent increase in the number of e-invoices sent through the system each month, proving that organizations across Europe are ready and able to embrace this greener technology," said Brian Thumwood, DHL's e-Billing Manger for Europe.

Accountis has been working with DHL for two years to develop their e-Billing system, and is helping the e-Billing rollout throughout Europe.
