Greener World Media Launches GreenBiz Intelligence Unit

In his new role as vice president for the Intelligence Unit, John M. Davies will launch the GreenBiz Leadership Network, a member-based, peer-to-peer learning forum for sustainability professionals.

Greener World Media today announced that it has named John M. Davies as vice president of its new GreenBiz Intelligence unit, a new project for the company that publishes GreenBiz.com and other information services on business and the environment.

In his new capacity, Davies, most recently vice president of green technology research for AMR Research, will launch the GreenBiz Leadership Network, a member-based, peer-to-peer learning forum for sustainability professionals.

Members of the new network, including senior environmental executives from global 1000 companies, will meet twice yearly and participate quarterly on interactive teleconferences targeted to specific business functions such as supply chain or product design, or other pressing issues identified by the group. In addition to documenting those interactions and insights, Davies and his team will also produce two major themed reports per year that will integrate leading practices from members along with other stakeholder inputs.

"There is a critical need for sustainability professionals to share and collaborate across companies and sectors," says Greener World Media chairman and executive editor Joel Makower. "We believe that John Davies is uniquely qualified to leverage his impressive skills and contacts with our growing network of chief sustainability officers. Together, we intend to help advance the state of the art of corporate environmental strategy."

Davies has a distinguished career in business management, software, supply chain, and research. At AMR, he developed the company's Sustainability Peer Forum, a network of senior executives from billion-dollar global corporations working together to share best practices and lessons learned for implementing sustainable development programs.

"The addition of John Davies represents a significant development in the growth of Greener World Media," says Pete May, GWM's president and publisher. "This is the logical extension of the GreenBiz brand, offering senior environmental managers a broader range of learning opportunities, from daily news to research to peer-to-peer networking."

Davies, who holds degrees from SUNY at Fredonia and the University of Delaware, is the author of numerous articles in business, industry, and educational publications, and is author of "$100,000+ Career: The New Approach to Networking for Executive Job Change," published by Sourcebooks.
