Green Globe International, the global certification program for environmentally responsible tourism, has announced new agreements with international hotel, student and travel groups in strategic partnerships aimed at offering new products and services to a broader audience.

The series of announcements culminated with two last week, the beginning of the holiday travel season.

Green Globe International, through its brand Green Globe, offers a variety of services including carbon neutrality, benchmarking, certification, consulting and communications programs to the tourism industry.

Green Globe and Sustainable Travel International said last week that they struck a licensing agreement in which the two will partner to deliver a Green Globe-branded carbon offset tool for travelers, in addition to other co-branded products and services.

Also last week, Green Globe said it reached agreement with the World Youth Student and Educational Travel Confederation to collaborate on a number of programs, including some that will be offered at a discounted rate to student travelers.

"The youth travel market is clearly immense, and the World Youth Student and Educational Travel Confederation is extremely well connected to this global community,"  CEO and Green Globe International Managing Director Steven R. Peacock said in announcing the agreement. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with the confederation to spread awareness of the brand in the youth markets."

Earlier in the month, Green Globe said it is teaming with Green Certifications, Inc., the owner of the Green Hotel Certification, in a co-branding arrangement that will enable both to provide dual certification of compliance with internationally accepted green standards for hotel, resort and tourism properties. The initial markets targeted for the co-branding effort are North, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe.
