Honest-1 Develops Green Auto Care Checklist

Honest-1 Auto Care has established a 90-point checklist to help its franchises choose environmentally friendly actions, covering recycling, energy efficiency, resource conservation and pollution prevention.

The company's 19 locations around the U.S. are required to follow the company's self-developed Environmentally Sustainable Actions manual. The checklist includes using water-based parts cleaning systems, cleaning and recycling all plastic containers and recycling all used oil, antifreeze and transmission fluid.

It also touches on operations in and around each location, including purchasing energy-saving equipment, taking steps to converse power and using landscaping that requires little water.

The checklist even extends to the company's services, requiring locations to promote services that increase fuel economy and decrease emissions, such as using high mileage oil and filters, using extended life air filters and explaining to customers the importance of proper tire inflation.

All Honest-1 locations will be reviewed annually on their actions and how they match up with the steps set out in the manual.
