Target is expanding its greener options next month with two limited-time collections from clothing maker Loomstate and furniture and accessories company Mio.

The eight-product line from Mio, founded by brothers Isaac and Jaime Salm, is focused on the outdoor and gardening. It includes a composting tub, 100 percent organic cotton bag that folds out into a hammock, solar-powered LED landscaping lights, recycled plastic watering can, herb garden made from 100 percent post consumer paper, and trowels, cultivators and weeders made with bamboo handles and jute twine.

Mio looked beyond just the materials in the products, deciding to source the watering can's plastic from Wisconsin and using only a band and string for the composter's packaging. Though it wasn't able to make the greenest choice in all cases, such as with the bamboo gardening tools, which were manufactured in China. Prices range from $7.99 for the weeder to $24.99 for the watering can to $99.99 for the composter.

The collection launches at Target April 12 for a limited time, with some of the items available on Target.com. The other collection, Loomstate for Target, is available starting April 19, also for a limited time, but at select Target stores and online.

The Loomstate line will include 100 percent organic cotton throughout a range of men's and women's clothes, including T-shirts, denim, jackets, board shorts and dresses. Women's items will be available through May 16, and men's items through June 20. Prices range from $14.99 to $44.99.
