Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd., a building analysis software firm headquartered in Glasgow, is launching enhanced versions of its VE-Toolkits to support sustainable design analysis.

The company's new virtual environmental tool kits include added features that are intended to smooth the way in the early design stage -- a key time to identify and address elements that will have the greatest effect on a structure's environmental efficiency and impact.

Among the tool kit upgrades are climate, building and material metrics; feedback on availability of natural resources, water use and renewable and low carbon technologies; and inclusion of new LEED credit capabilities based on the expanded and enhanced Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards that took effect this week.

The tool kits have interactive features that enable users to evaluate different eco-friendly design strategies to see which best meets their needs. Users can filter and highlight results based on different thresholds, review a simulation comparison and history, and consider various options based on best practices.

The new IES VE-Toolkits are to be available starting in June. The company is offering sneak previews of the product this week at the American Institute of Architects Expo in San Francisco.
