Sun’s data center efficiency consultants will work with Emerson’s Liebert power, cooling and services specialists from around the world in an arrangement that gives Sun the flexibility of offering complete infrastructure services to global customers.
“Our vision for this program is centered on the enterprise customer who needs to increase productivity, improve efficiency and optimize capital investments, Bob Bauer, Emerson group vice president and Liebert global president, said in a statement last week.
The alliance counts among its customers Sandia National Laboratories in the United States and Telstra and the Bureau of Meteorology, both in Australia.
At Sandia National Laboratories in the U.S., the partners bundled Sun’s Glazier rear door cooling assemblies with Emerson’s Liebert XD pumping units and Sun Blade servers. According to Sun, its door cooling systems help boost compute density by as much as 70 percent over in-row cooling options while also providing six times more efficient rack cooling that standard cooling systems.
Emerson Network Power is a business unit of Emerson, which recently opened a $50 million global data center that was designed to be more than 30 percent more energy efficient than a conventional facility. The 35,000-square foot data center sports precision cooling products and Missouri’s largest rooftop solar power array. The company is pursuing a LEED-Gold rating for the data center.
