Xerox, Accenture Top List of Green Outsourcers

CLEARWATER, FL — According to the newly released 2009 Black Book of Outsourcing Vendors, Xerox is the world's greenest firm offering third-party services.

Xerox tops a list of 50 most recommended green outsourcing vendors, and is followed by Accenture, CSC, CapGemini, and IBM Global in the top five positions.

To develop the list, the Black Book's authors use a survey of more than 1,300 respondents about their interactions with third party service providers including IT outsourcing, human resources outsourcing, facilities management outsourcing, and a host of other fields.

The ranking takes into account three internally developed measures of sustainability -- environmental protection, social improvements and economic growth -- as well as a number of third-party standards. Included in the list of third-party standards are the U.N.'s Global Compact for social, economic and environmental principles; the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) standards 14000 and 14001, the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED standard, and Green Sigma, a sustainability consulting service created by IBM based on lean Six Sigma principles.
