COPENHAGEN, DK, and ATLANTA, GA — At a conference where sustainability is stressed from top to bottom, news emerged today that the organizers of the Copenhagen climate talks literally addressed the back end of that proposition. They selected chairs that are certified as being eco-friendly.
The 350 delegates at the Copenhagen climate conference have been provided Greenguard-certified HÅG chairs, Greenguard Environmental Institute announced.
HÅG is owned by the Scandinavian Business Seating company, whose brands include RH and RBM. Collectively, their mission is "To make the world a better place to sit."
Three types of HÅG chairs -- the HÅG Futu (pictured above), the Capisco (right) and the Conventio (below left) -- have been certified by Greenguard as being products with low chemical emissions that help improve indoor air quality and are recyclable, as well as being produced with recycled materials.
"We are excited to have our chairs selected for the climate conference," Scandinavian Business Seating CEO Lars I. Roiri said in the announcement. "It provides additional recognition of HÅG's commitment to sustainability, which aims to minimize our company's and products' impact on indoor and outdoor environments."
The Greenguard Environmental Institute is an independent, third-party organization that oversees the Greenguard certification program and sets indoor air standards for building materials, interior products, electronic equipment, indoor environments and buildings. The institute is accredited as a standards developer by the American National Standards Institute.
