Mountain View, CA — The wide range of green manufacturing practices being adopted by electronics companies have resulted in a slew of benefits for those companies. The practices, their purposes and their benefits are explored in new research from Frost & Sullivan, "Trends in Green Manufacturing for Electronics."
The report looks at practices like minimizing waste creation, eliminating chemicals like lead and some flame retardants, and changing designs in order to streamline processes and increase the reusability and recycling rates of products.
The report also explores the benefits of these practices, which include reducing carbon footprints, reducing costs, improving energy efficiency, increasing customer satisfaction and improving brand image.
Frost & Sullivan notes that the industry, however, needs guidelines or a standard for performing lifecycle analysis of items in order to help companies deal with toxic chemicals and analyze a product's carbon footprint. Electronics manufacturers also need to communicate with recyclers to help them develop new separation and recycling techniques for products.
