BATON ROUGE, LA, & WASHINGTON, DC — The Shaw Group Inc. will provide a range of energy services to the U.S. General Services Administration as part of the agency's efforts to make government buildings more efficient.
Shaw, a $7.3 billion Fortune 500 firm based in Baton Rouge, announced today that it received a blanket purchase agreement from the GSA.
Such arrangements enable the government to streamline the process it uses to obtain recurring or similar services from a vendor for numerous projects.
Responding to the Recovery Act, which President Obama signed into law a year ago, the GSA is using energy services purchase agreements to help federal agencies meet requirements to green their facilities.
Shaw is to conduct audits, reviews and consumption surveys of building performance and energy efficiency for the GSA.
The firm also is expected to identify energy conservation measures and provide updates on energy management records covering major government equipment and infrastructure systems. It is to do the same regarding water use.
The Shaw Group provides engineering, construction, technology, fabrication, remediation and support services. Its clients include firms in the energy, chemical, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response industries.
