NEW YORK, NY — Retail investors from cities other than in the U.S. feel that climate change is the biggest issue facing the world, according to the HSBC Bank Global Pulse survey.
Representing 11 cities around the world, the 2,044 respondents answered questions about their preferences and behaviors regarding economic outlook, financial concerns and other topics. Responses came from Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, Paris, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Toronto/Vancouver.
When asked what the three main issues facing the world are, the respondents from the U.S. put the economy and terrorism (40 percent and 39 percent, respectively) in the number one and number two spots. Twenty-six percent said climate change was the biggest issue.
Climate change was named the number one issue by the majority of respondents elsewhere, though. The percentage that named it the most important ranged from 62 percent from Hong Kong to 32 percent from Paris.
The economy took second or third place for all other cities except Paris. Terrorism was cited by London, Paris, Sydney and Toronto/Vancouver. Energy was named the third most important issue by Hong Kong. Poverty was the third most important issue for Paris. And government was the second most important issue to Sao Paulo.

Not having seen the exact questions it is difficult to know what people thought they were selecting. These polls are like statistics in that they can be designed to prove/disprove most anything.
Having lived overseas most of the past 30 years (and still do) the green's concept of where the US is in regards to the environment compared to Europe is way past silly. Of course the greens need that crying/salying point for some reason.
Rediculous
Wow, 3 major issues... One were the "US" internationally is the bullseye as a target (terrorism)...
Two, an extremely faltering economy that is effecting the meat and bones of America more so then any Economic downturns since the great depression. Obviously America is considerably spoiled as far as our economic standards but we also have the revenue nationally to back it...
Three Climate change, where we have taken a lot of steps more so then a large portion of the international community AND to add to this their lack of involvement gives manufactures options to avoid costs with their production facilities (avoid chemical scrubers, and other devices used to reduce or cut pollution) which further hurts our economy for potential taking "too fast" of an initiative based against our global competitors...
I'm not sure statistically were we stand internationally as far as already implemented environment protection plans/infrastructure but I do know that visually we are way ahead...
