OAKLAND, CA — Greener World Media announced today that media and events veteran Eric Faurot has joined its management team as President and Chief Strategist. Faurot will work alongside Greener World Media co-founders Joel Makower, Chairman of the Board and Executive Editor, and Pete May, Chief Executive Officer.
Faurot will be responsible for setting and implementing a strategy that builds on Greener World Media's strength as the leading media and information services company focusing on the greening of mainstream business. Faurot will work on expanding existing products such as GreenBiz.com, the State of Green Business Forums, and the GreenBiz Executive Network, a member-based peer-to-peer learning forum for sustainability directors in large corporations. In addition, he will spearhead new offerings ranging from events to social media to paid content.
Faurot's appointment follows a string of expansion announcements from Greener World Media, including a major partnership with Underwriters Laboratories to bring to market a global sustainability standard for business, and the announcement of a new Fall event, the GreenBiz Innovation Forum, to be held October 19-20 in San Francisco.
Faurot served as Senior Vice President and Board Member for TechWeb, a division of United Business Media, from 2006 to 2009. At TechWeb he grew the live event division of CMP Media from $38 million to $63 million by expanding leading events such as Interop and Web 2.0. Prior to TechWeb, Faurot served as Senior Vice President for MediaLive International, Inc., and as Vice President for Miller Freeman.
Faurot commented "I'm incredibly excited and honored to be joining Greener World Media. Joel and Pete have built a world-class team and the leading media platform that sits squarely in the center of one of the biggest market opportunities today - mainstream business's drive toward sustainability. "
Makower commented: "Ten years ago this month, I launched GreenBiz.com. Over the past three years Pete May, our team and I have grown our websites and established events, research and the GreenBiz Executive Network. The addition of Eric represents a major step in accelerating our growth and building on our position as the leading information and community provider at the intersection of business and the environment.
Greener World Media Chief Executive Officer Pete May added, "I worked alongside Eric at CMP and Miller Freeman and since then have watched him build great teams and products. I can't think of a better leader to help take the company to the next level."
