Teladata, IFMA Foundation Offer Guide for Greener Data Centers

In collaboration with the IFMA Foundation, tech consulting firm Teladata has produced a guide for making data centers, perhaps the most complex area of a facility, more energy efficient.

The online resource "Turning Data Centers Green" is a step-by-step guide that covers planning and how to make the business case for energy efficiency upgrades to carrying out the projects and retiring assets

In writing the guide, Teladata draws on its 25 years in business and its more than a decade of specialization in the design and management of IT infrastructure and data centers, said Nichole Stephenson of Teladata's Business Development unit.

Improving communications, particularly between facility management and IT teams, should be at the top of the list for any project involving data center efficiency upgrades, said Stephenson.

Bridging the communication gaps is critical to project success, she said. "No. 2 is baselining," Stephenson said. "Without it, there's no way to determine how or whether efforts are successful."
