US Bank Adopts Hara Software to Monitor Energy Use at 2,200 Sites

 U.S. Bank will track and analyze the energy use at more than 2,200 sites with software from Hara.

The country's fifth largest bank has chosen to use Hara's Environmental and Energy Management software to monitor energy at its various sites in 25 states. 

The software will act as a central location keeping track of energy use and other environmental data and trends from the bank's properties.

Since 2007, U.S. Bank has used LEED specifications for building new branches, and has received LEED certification for nine branches. It's also seeking to carry the Energy Star logo based on its overall energy use.

The company was named an Energy Star Partner for setting a voluntary commitment to energy efficiency, and if its buildings rank among the top 25 percent of their peers' based on energy performance, they can display the Energy Star.

Another aspect of its buildings' energy U.S. Bank has invested in is the energy consumed by data centers, reports Bank Technology News.

Through a virtualization project, U.S. Bank was able to swap out servers at a 15:1 ratio, to make server processing more efficient and improve data storage. The company is also about to have an energy audit done at one of its data centers, in Minneapolis, for the first time.
