A Note from the Editor

By Eric Olson -- BSR

Actions Speak Louder, But Words Matter, Too

This week's stories include some interesting new developments in the struggle to pass effective climate change legislation in the U.S. A group of a dozen companies -- including two utilities -- signed onto a public letter urging the Senate to pass effective legislation. Others -- including Duke Energy and Alstom -- quit their membership in trade associations seen to be obstructing progess.

As highlighted in this week's feature story "Three Ways Climate Action Offers a Business Advantage," effective action on climate will require that we bridge the gaps between science, knowledge, action, and results - and business leaders have a role to play in all of them. Not least of which is aligning our public policy positions with our own strategies and corporate values, ensuring that policy makers -- not to mention our customers and employees -- get the information they need to make the decisions we desperately need them to make.
