We're pleased as punch with the response to our newly launched Green Confidence Index. In case you missed it, we debuted last week our newest product: a monthly index reflecting Americans' attitudes about and confidence in their leaders and institutions, nationally and locally, on the subject of environmental responsibility, as well as in their own understanding of issues and their willingness to make green purchasing choices.

The Green Confidence Index (a partnership with Earthsense, a leading market research firm, and Survey Sampling International, a leading polling organization) is intended to provide marketers and others needing to track trends a steady barometer of consumer sentiment. We believe such nuanced indicators -- as opposed to the annual or occasional polls -- will help guide companies as they find their pathway in the post-recession economy. What, exactly, will happen to "green" as the economy recovers? The Index will help keep tabs on continually shifting attitudes.

You can download the inaugural monthly edition here. The next monthly issue is scheduled for November 17.

Green Building Market and Impact Report 2009: Meanwhile, coming up this week is the launch of our annual Green Buildings Market and Impact Report, an annual assessment of how, and how much, green building is addressing environmental challenges -- saving energy, water, materials, land use, and other things. (You can view last year's report here.) Report author Rob Watson, executive editor of our site GreenerBuildings.com and one of the creators of the LEED green building rating system, will present this year's report in a free webinar on Thursday, November 5. Enrollment already is nearing capacity, so register soon.
