Taking Care of Business
By Joel Makower, Chairman & Executive Editor
Two down, one to go ... and then lots more after that.
Today, Monday, is the last of our three 2012 GreenBiz Forums. The first two, in Minneapolis and New York, were as extraordinary as we'd hoped. Thank you to the terrific speakers and, most of all, to the enthusiastic, welcoming, and incredibly engaging audiences. Our sold-out, SRO event in Midtown Manhattan last week exceeded our high expectations.
Today, it's our hometown event. San Francisco audiences (in fact, attendees are coming from more than a dozen states) are always lively, challenging, and willing to push back, which we love. We'll be welcomed first thing by San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee who, in his roles as both mayor and city administrator, has been at the front lines of that city's sustainability and cleantech leadership.
And then it's over. But not really.
Next week, on February 7, my colleague John Davies and I will present the 2012 State of Green Business report, as well as a status report on the state of the sustainability profession, in a free, one-hour webcast. You'll have a chance to listen and learn, but also to ask questions. John and I are looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Registration is required.
Up Next: VERGE: Even before the last GreenBiz Forum ends, we're working hard on our next great event: VERGE DC, March 14-16 in Washington, D.C. That three-day event, focusing on the new business opportunities at the convergence of energy, information, building, and transportation technologies, will break new ground in bringing together the DC policy crowd and the Defense Department's most innovative thinkers with some the world's leading technology companies. Suffice to say, you'll be hearing a lot more about that ... soon.
Are You Linked with Us? The GreenBiz LinkedIn group hit a milestone last week: its 30,000th member. Aside from sheer quantity, the quality of the conversations taking place on that site — hundreds every week — continues to impress me. If you haven't yet joined — or if you're a member who hasn't checked it out recently — I strongly encourage you to take a look and engage in the robust conversations with your peers.
